From the Italian Comune to the Peruvian civil register.

Official translation from Italian into Spanish of Italian birth, marriage and death certificates and court judgments, for filing or transcription with RENIEC. I do it myself, as a certified translator in Peru.

Documents

What I translate for RENIEC

Every civil-status record issued in Italy — whether by the Comune, by a court or by a consulate — needs an apostille and an official translation into Spanish in order to produce effects in Peru.

Birth certificate

Atto di nascita issued by the Italian Comune, in integrale, plurilingue or estratto format. The usual basis for the registration of birth in Peru, for a DNI application or for Peruvian nationality proceedings of a descendant.

Marriage certificate

Italian atto di matrimonio, for transcription of the marriage in the Peruvian civil register. It includes the full translation of the record and any marginal annotations.

Death certificate

Italian atto di morte, needed for succession proceedings, the Peruvian civil register and pension entitlements. Translation preserving the terminology of the original record.

Judgments and related records

Divorce judgments, marriage annulments, recognition of paternity, adoption orders. Italian consular records. Each in the form that RENIEC requires for registration or annotation.

Frequently asked questions

What people usually ask

Does RENIEC accept your translation?
Yes. RENIEC requires an official translation produced by a sworn public translator or a certified translator in Peru. I am a member of the Colegio de Traductores del Perú (CTP 0745), which meets the requirement.
Does the Italian record have to be recent?
RENIEC usually requires recently issued records, typically not older than six months at the time of filing. It is worth requesting the record from the Italian Comune shortly before assembling the file, and having it apostilled straight away.
Can I skip the apostille if the record comes from the consulate?
It depends on the type of record. Italian consular records also require an apostille or, where applicable, certification under the procedure in force. If you are not sure how it applies to your case, send me the document and I will advise.
How soon do I get the translation?
For a simple record (birth, marriage or death, one page), typically 24 to 48 working hours. Judgments and complex records take longer; I confirm the timeline when I review the document.
